The after-school programme started with 10 students in 1994 and was
the first activity offered by the Operation Restoration Centre.
All students in this programme attend primary and secondary schools during
the day. Students have recorded significant improvement in their academic
and social performance subsequent to participation in this programme.
The student population averages 40 per day. Special
attention is given to the 6 graders in preparation for GSAT.
After-school meals and tuition are free and students whose behaviour
merits special consideration may obtain sponsorships for school fees,
uniforms, books, lunch money, bus fares and other school expenses.
The after-school programme also connects young people
with mentors who are positive, caring role-models. In a community filled
with gloom and limited opportunity, these mentors offer a great deal
of encouragement and hope.
